The Customs Department of Sint Maarten aims to manage the import, export, and transit of goods in a professional, transparent, and customer-focused manner for both businesses and private individuals.
If you disagree with a Customs decision — including duties assessed, seizure of goods, or penalties imposed — you have the legal right to file a claim or objection.
You may submit an objection if:
- You believe duties or taxes were calculated incorrectly
- Your goods were seized and you wish to request release
- You disagree with a Customs enforcement action
- You received a fine or administrative decision from Customs
All objections must be submitted in writing and include:
- Your full name and contact information
- A clear description of your objection
- Supporting documents (invoice, airway bill, receipt, declaration, etc.)
- The date of the Customs decision
Customs will review your request and respond in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
